All hiking trails and major roads are closed due to flooding, including Wildlife Drive. The Visitor Center is open, and the Butterfly Garden is beautiful! Second Saturday Presentations, Butterfly Garden Walks and Nature'Ology will be held as scheduled.

Homeschool Day at the Dallas Zoo with Spencer

October 8^th - We will be attending "Homeschool Day" at the Dallas Zoo on Tuesday October 8^th 9AM-3PM. We will meet at the Visitor Center and all go together. We will need to leave by 6-6:30AM. The theme of the day is conservation this year. We are going to have a really nice booth in a large space with no other exhibitors nearby (the zoo likes us). This is another high volume event. Last year we spoke to over 1,000 guests and with 5 volunteers we did great and had lots of fun. Our mission will be to talk to guests about Hagerman Refuge. I will bring the fishing game. We can work together to cover the booth so everyone can enjoy at least 1 hour for lunch and the zoo. The zoo provides light refreshments for all exhibitors.

Events and activities hosted by the Friends of Hagerman are funded by donations and powered solely by volunteers. There are no fees for admission to the refuge or parking. The refuge is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year and you may drive on any road unless gated.
