Many opportunities await those who would like to try something new, gain experience, develop skills,  build confidence, and meet new people with similar interests, all while learning about nature. A wide range of positions are available—everything from mowing fields to greeting people in the Visitor Center. There is something for everyone!

For more information, please email us:  info@friendsofhagerman.org

Visitor Center Volunteers

Share your love of nature with visitors to a National Wildlife Refuge, while meeting other nature enthusiasts.

Volunteers greet visitors and provide trail maps and other refuge information, including interpretation. Volunteers engage youth with the Junior and Advanced Ranger programs, including oath recital and badge awards. Other duties include checking out binoculars, answering phones and conducting sales in the Nature Nook.

Volunteers are provided with training, and have full control over which shifts they sign up for. Shifts are:

Weekdays and Saturday: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM

Sundays: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Training will be scheduled on an individual basis, and will include several shifts working with experienced volunteers. Trained volunteers are asked to commit to one shift per month.  Email info@friendsofhagerman.org for more information and to schedule training.
