Early Bird Walk with Jack Chiles

Due to deer hunting at the refuge, the bird walk has been moved to Meadow Pond Trail.  We will meet at 8 AM at the trailhead, parking is avaiable in the Big Mineral Day Use Parking Lot.

If traveling from the South:

The Visitor Center opens at 7:30, but outdoor restrooms are available at the Big Mineral Day Use Area.  You may prefer to avoid construction and come in via North 75. West on Route 902 to 289 North, then West Route 82 to Southmayd Road:

Master Naturalist Jack Chiles will lead this Early Bird Walk, weather permitting.  Participants will view birds and wildlife along Meadow Pond Trail, walking about two miles, and returning to the parking lot in plenty of time to drive to the Visitor Center for the Second Saturday program.

Free and open to the public.  Donations are accepted to support this and other events and programs sponsored by the Friends of Hagerman NWR.
